If you are a Kenyan Citizen intending to get married abroad to a Kenyan or Non Kenyan Citizen, you are required to obtain a Citizen of No impediment to Marriage. The reason is that the authorities in the other country need a clearance from the Kenyan Registrar of Marriages that you are not married in Kenya before allowing you to get married in another country.

The requirements for the application are:
a. Duly filled application form
b. Applicant’s certified passport
c. Applicant’s certified birth certificate
d. Fiancees certified passport copy
e. Applicant’s Divorce Decree (Where applicable)
NB:
Certification of the documents can only be done at the Registrar of Marriages Nairobi Office, Embassies Abroad or before a Notary Public Abroad.
Where originals are readily available the Registrar of Marriages – Nairobi can certify.
The office does not accept scanned certified copies or photocopies of certified copies.
The application MUST be filled by the Applicant.
