Affidavit of forced motor vehicle transfer in Kenya
If the registered owner of a motor vehicle is unavailable or cannot be traced, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) requires an application and supporting affidavits to facilitate the transfer of ownership to the purchaser.
Requirements
To apply for the transfer, you will need the following:
- Full name of the registered owner
- Motor vehicle registration number
- Original logbook
- Tape lift report
- Documents proving how you acquired the motor vehicle (such as a sale agreement of motor vehicle).
- Copy of the registered owner’s ID and KRA PIN
How to carry out the forced transfer of motor vehicle
- Complete the transfer application form.
- Swear an affidavit before a Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public, Magistrate, or Consular Officer confirming the registered owner’s absence.
- Submit the application through your NTSA TIMS account for processing.
