Affidavit of Lost or Damaged Logbook in Kenya
An affidavit of lost or damaged logbook is made by the vehicle owner explaining the circumstances under which the original logbook was lost, misplaced, destroyed, or rendered unusable. The affidavit acts as evidence confirming that the owner is unable to produce the original document.
It must be sworn before a Commissioner for Oaths, Advocate, or Notary Public, and forms part of the mandatory documents filed when applying for a replacement logbook on the NTSA TIMS platform.
When Do You Need This Affidavit?
You will need the affidavit in the following situations:
-
The logbook has been lost or stolen.
-
The logbook is irreparably damaged or defaced.
-
The logbook is partially destroyed (fire, water damage, wear and tear).
-
You cannot locate the logbook after a reasonable search.
-
The logbook was surrendered to a lender who has since closed, misplaced it, or cannot trace it.
The affidavit helps NTSA verify ownership and guard against fraudulent applications.
